XO Writing Assignment at Barton Elementary

Fourth grade bilingual students at Barton Elementary School in Irving, Texas, were lead in a writing assignment by their teacher Ed Salamanca and campus technology specialist Gae Poulsen. The students were using the XO laptops in their classroom and loved them. The students told the teacher they wanted MORE of the XO's in school, so they decided it would help if they wrote and told people about how they were using the XO's and how the XO improved their learning experience. The teacher assumed the students would write to the district technology leaders Dr. Alice Owen and Sam Farsaii, but the students thought they should write to the consortium that makes the XO's and let them know that they should make more of the available to students in the US.

Attached below are three examples of the letters produced by the students.
